Our Story

the mural

In 2014, two churches in Jefferson County,  Alabama, (Eastminster Presbyterian Church and Grace Presbyterian Church, both in Trussville, AL) merged to form one new church, Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church. The new church name was derived from the headwaters of the Cahaba River located less than 2 miles from the church. To commemorate the successful unification, members and artists, Laura and Arnold Reichert, created an 11-foot-long, 4-foot-wide mural made of plastic bottle caps of varied sizes and colors. Images seen in the mural are symbolic with water being the main theme as in reformed tradition water is  a life-giving force and as the waters of  Baptism. The seven fish represent the seven historical churches and their faithful saints from the east Birmingham area that over time formed CSPC. The white abstract flowers in the border represent the unique Cahaba Lily which is only seen in this part of the country. A picture of the mural is on the right.

caring for the community

Mission to the local community and the greater community is an important part of CSPC. The picture on the left is of the backpacks and school supplies collected for the Presbyterian Home for Children in Talledega, AL  and local schools. CSPC also supports the Trussville Ecumenical Assistive Ministry, Three Hots and a Cot, and Living Waters for the World.

Where we are headed...

Exciting things are happening at Cahaba Springs and we would love for you to be a part of our family. In addition to our weekly Sunday morning worship at 11:00 am, we hold special services such as the Blessing of the Animals (see picture on the right); Longest Night service (to hold space for those who may be struggling with the 'Christmas cheer;' and Christmas Eve service. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month. We also have numerous opportunities for study and reflection to continue your faith journey. There is a place for you at Cahaba Springs.
